I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and have been practicing psychiatry for 11 years. However, prior to specializing in psychiatry, I had practiced as a pediatric nurse practitioner since 2001. While practicing as a PNP, I worked with the college age population for 7 of those years and saw the many mental health struggles that they endured. As a result, I went on to specialize in psychiatry. Since specializing, I have worked with many children, families, and adults to help them overcome or manage their mental health symptoms along with a collaborative effort with their other medical providers. I also have encouraged a more holistic approach and discuss the importance of implementing healthy lifestyle choices into that person’s everyday life.
I hold dual certifications as a nurse practitioner. I was first certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2001 after receiving my master’s degree in nursing. I then received a post master’s certificate in psychiatry in 2012 and became a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I have been providing psychiatric services as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to an outpatient mental health clinic, an adult partial hospitalization program and a pediatric partial hospitalization program since 2012. I then started my own private practice 7 years ago. Prior to practicing psychiatry, I provided primary care to children and adolescents as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Many of those years were providing care to the college age population.
